The JFS Coordinator of Volunteer Services matches volunteers with persons seeking help. Performing good deeds to fulfill the Jewish tradition of Tzedakah is essential to our way of life. Volunteers are an indispensable part of Jewish Family Services.
By performing vital tasks you can supplement and enhance the Agency’s professional staff and transmit the warmth and concern of the community to those you assist.
There are many opportunities within JFS for your interests and abilities to merge with the needs of others. This results in a mutually rewarding volunteer experience. If you would like to help others, for whatever amount of time you can spare, please call JFS for more information.
Here are some of our programs where volunteers make a difference:
Meals on Wheels
Provide a nutritious, home cooked meal for a frail, elderly homebound
individual, an ill individual or a needy family.
Jewish Outreach
Provide Jewish programming to residents in local nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
Friendly Visits and Telephone Reassurance
Offer companionship to frail, aged and homebound individuals though visits and calls.
Mitzvah Mobility
Provide transportation and escort services to doctor’s offices and other important appointments.
Shopper Corps
Drive and escort individuals on shopping trips to supermarkets and department stores, or shop for those who are homebound.
