Mitzvah Maker Volunteer Opportunities

JFS Mitzvah Maker Volunteers preserve, strengthen, enrich and enhance the services that JFS can offer to the Jewish Community. Without you, we would not be able to reach as many individuals as we do. Volunteers add an extra dimension of warmth and personal attention that means so much to our clients. Volunteering is your opportunity to carry on the Jewish tradition of Tzedakah. Here are some of JFS volunteer opportunities:

Cooks – JFS volunteers cook and provide nutritious, home cooked meals for elderly or disabled homebound individuals, ill individuals or needy families.

Pantry Helpers – Greet our clients and check them in as well as prepare pre-packed bags, help stock shelves and assist clients as needed. JFS volunteers can help pick up donated food from the temples and other organizations in the Jewish community.

Drivers – Help our clients by taking them to doctors’ appointments, picking up prescriptions, or quick runs to the grocery store.

Friendly Visits/Calls – JFS volunteers can check in with a senior by phone or pay a friendly visit. Either way, you brighten someone’s day.

Special Projects/Holiday Gift Bags – JFS needs volunteers to help with special projects such as the JFS annual Chanukah party for seniors, making up and delivering holiday gift bags for Passover and Rosh Hashanah and help with fundraising events.

Professional Skills - Do you have professional expertise you’re willing to share? JFS maintains a resource bank for clients needing professional services. Can you do simple repairs around the house, help with budgeting, fix the brakes on a car, provide vital housing information for a family facing foreclosure? If you would like to share your expertise, please contact JFS at 704-364-6594.

Administrative Office/Reception Assistance – The JFS office is always busy! Help answer the phones, file, and do data entry. Administrative volunteers help our agency run smoothly.
