Founded in 1980, Jewish Family Services has evolved from an agency serving Jewish Russian immigrants, seniors, and the financially needy to one that provides a full range of counseling and social service assistance to the entire Greater Charlotte community.
Jewish Family Services provides comprehensive integrated social services that help members of our community in the most effective compassionate way possible, providing people of all ages, religions and socio-economic backgrounds with the encouragement and tools they need to become productive and self-reliant.
In order to meet the diverse needs of our growing community and respond to the prolonged economic downturn, Jewish Family Services has continued to expand our programs and services to benefit the community.
Today, Jewish Family Services collaborates with every Jewish agency in our community, as well as many agencies throughout Charlotte. The JFS operating budget has grown from $125,000 in 1997 to its current budget of $750,000 in 2012.
While the programming and services of Jewish Family Services has changed over time, the agency’s core mission has not: Jewish Family Services strengthens and empowers individuals and families through professional counseling, programs and services inspired by Jewish values.
Support and funding for our programs and services are provided through the generous contributions of our donors and the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte, our volunteers who give generously of their time and talent, insurance reimbursement and client fees and our collaborative relationships with our agencies.
